DOB Requires Facade Inspection Reports to Be Filed Online

DOB NOW: Safety

As part of New York City’s Building One City plan, the Department of Buildings is transitioning to an electronic filing system called DOB NOW. The first phase of the program is DOB NOW: Safety, an online portal for facade, boiler, and elevator filings.

No More Hard Copies

Beginning today, September 12, all Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP, formerly known as Local Law 11/98) reports and extension requests must be submitted online through DOB NOW: Safety. The DOB will no longer accept hard copy filings.

The following documents and information must be created and submitted within the portal:

  • Initial TR-6, FISP inspection report and supporting documents
  • Subsequent and Amended reports
  • Extension requests for repairing unsafe conditions
  • Shed removal requests
  • Height verification

Other changes for facade compliance filing include:

  • Owners, owner representatives, and Qualified Exterior Wall Inspectors (QEWI) must register with the DOB’s eFiling to access the system
  • QEWI’s must be approved by the DOB
  • Only online payments will be accepted
  • All certifications require electronic signatures

Dashboard

The DOB NOW site will feature a dashboard where registered users can search information on buildings, access the real-time status of filings, report unsafe conditions, submit fees online, and receive email notifications.

Register Now for DOB NOW

Owners and property representatives should register as soon as possible so they are ready to use the new system. The DOB has provided online manuals for owners and owner representatives.
