Register Today: RAND Webinars at Annual CNYC Housing Conference, November 14

Join us on Sunday, November 14, for the Council of NYC Cooperatives & Condominiums' (CNYC) 41st Annual Housing Conference, which will be held virtually for the second year in a row. RAND will be presenting two webinars via Zoom at the conference: "Conquering Local Law 97 Compliance Challenges" and "Managing Capital Improvements."

Conquering Local Law 97 Compliance Challenges

New York City’s ambitious Climate Mobilization Act (Local Law 97 of 2019) sets standards for significant reductions in the carbon footprint of buildings of 25,000 square feet and more, so as to reduce the City carbon level in 2050 by 80% from its level in 2005. Many buildings will be seriously challenged to achieve the required reductions along the way to this goal and could face heavy fines for non-compliance. RAND Principal Peter Varsalona, PE will be presenting “Conquering Local Law 97 Compliance Challenges” with FirstService Residential President of Property Management Michael Wolfe and FirstService Energy Vice President Kelly Dougherty. Together, they will explain the law and help participants navigate compliance challenges. The webinar begins at 11:15 AM.

Managing Capital Improvements

Also at 11:15 AM, RAND President Stephen Varone, AIA will be presenting “Managing Capital Improvements” at the conference this year. Stephen will discuss the various issues involved, including scope of work, budgeting, competitive bid, contract negotiation, payment terms, insurance and bonding, scheduling, project supervision, sub-contractors, site safety, and project sign-off. The class is designed to help boards coordinate the many moving parts of a capital improvement program to achieve successful results.

CNYC's Annual Housing Conference offers registrants 40 different classes for a day of learning for board members, committee members, prospective board members of housing cooperatives and condominiums, and the professionals who work with them.
