RAND Founder and President Stephen Varone; founder of RAND's founder, and Lifetime Achievement RANDy award winner Faye Varone; Principal and Vice President Peter Varsalona; and Chief Administrative Officer Chris Walsh get into the holiday spirit on the Cornucopia Destiny.

With New York City as our backdrop, RAND celebrated our annual holiday party aboard the Cornucopia Destiny, which embarked from Chelsea Piers two Friday nights ago. As the party boat sailed around round the tip of Manhattan and back, we enjoyed a wonderful evening with coworkers, family, and friends. Amid the bonhomie was a measure of frivolity, including a caricaturist and a photo booth, which inspired more than a few innovative poses with props.

The open-air (i.e., cold air) top deck offered amazing photo opportunities and an incredible view of Manhattan and New Jersey. The main deck played host to the cocktail hour, buffet dinner, and RANDy Awards presentation.

Speaking of the RANDies, which recognize those individuals worthy of special acclaim for their contributions to RAND, the celebrated winners were an impressive group: The Rookie of the Year RANDy went to Architectural Team Leader Suzanna Takayama. The RAND Master RANDy for excellence in performance was awarded to CAD Manager Eileen Marcinek. For Vendor of the Year RANDy it was RAND’s professional liability insurance broker Michael Maloney. Project Associate Yessica Marinez and Project Architect Esin Pektas each took home the RAND Gives Back RANDy Award for community service. And the founder of RAND’s founder, RAND’s Grand Dame and guiding light since Day One, Faye Varone, received the well-deserved Lifetime Achievement RANDy. Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you for a great year!

Our evening was jam packed to the end as the dance floor continued to rock after we docked. With the holidays upon us and the New Year close, RAND will carry the successes of 2013 and the camaraderie of our celebrations with us to 2014. Happy Holidays, everyone!
