New York City’s Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) 9th Cycle filing window begins next week on February 21 and the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) has issued a new amended rule aimed at increasing safety and holding a small number of negligent building owners more accountable. In the wake of architect Erica Tishman's tragic death in December from falling masonry, and also taking into account recent cavity wall failures and the city's aging building stock, it's more critical than ever that building owners proactively maintain their facades in safe condition.
To help you navigate through all 9th Cycle FISP requirements—both old and new—RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC would like to invite you to a free seminar led by RAND President Stephen A. Varone, AIA.
The approximately 90-minute seminar and question-and-answer session will cover the following:
- What's new for the 9th Cycle, including: additional hands-on inspections, probe investigations, facade condition certificates, etc.
- How the new requirements will affect the cost of inspection
- Changes to the rule regarding Unsafe and SWARMP conditions
- Increased penalties and fines
- Cost-saving alternative methods of inspection
- and more...
Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served starting at 5:30 PM, followed by a presentation at 6:00 PM.
