RAND Gives Back Upcoming Events, Holiday Edition

With this past week's #GivingTuesday kick off to the charitable season, our RAND Gives Back program is in full swing with several opportunities to make a difference this December.

In the spirit of #GivingTuesday, RAND donated $1,000 to Engineers Without Borders, an organization dedicated to bettering the world through engineering projects that empower communities to meet their basic human needs. Did you know 1 in 10 people lacks access to clean water? With the world population closing in on 7.5 billion, that’s 750 million people without the most basic of human needs: clean water. That’s 2.3 times the amount of people living in the United States.

Make a donation and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying will match it dollar-for-dollar until December 31, 2016, or until the $100,000 in matching funds runs out. Please consider a personal contribution now as your dollar will go twice as far.

Upcoming Events

Join in on the giving spirit with RAND Gives Back this holiday season:

Blood Drive: Give the gift of life at our fourth annual American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, December 7 between 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM at RAND's office at 159 West 25th Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues) in Chelsea. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you need a particular time, advance registration is available online at redcrossblood.org, keyword RAND.

Toy Drive: New Alternatives for Children (NAC), an organization near and dear to our hearts, organizes an annual toy drive, which runs until Friday, December 9 this year. Many NAC families live in poverty and struggle to meet their bills and put food on the table.  There is little left over at the end of the month for such “luxury” items as a new book or toy for their child.  By sending an item on RAND's Holiday Amazon Wish List for NAC  or NAC's Amazon.com Wishlist, you give hope to a family and make a significant difference in the life of a child.

Food Drive: Help City Harvest collect non-perishable food to keep shelves stocked at 500 soup kitchens, food pantries, and other community food programs across the city. Running a food drive helps City Harvest provide good food during the holiday season when so many of our neighbors struggle to feed their families. RAND will collect dry and canned food donations this month at our office until Friday, December 23 and deliver the donations to City Harvest.

Coat Drive: Give the gift of warmth this winter! RAND is hosting our annual coat drive in conjunction with New York Cares. Please bring in your unused and unwanted coats that are in usable condition to our office. Child-sized coats are always in great need. The coat drive will end on Tuesday, January 3.

RAND Gives Back supports people and organizations in the communities where we live and work through a variety of volunteer efforts and charitable giving. The program offers employees the opportunity to donate their time and talents in ways meaningful to them. We appreciate your helping us make a difference!
