A Day of Family Fun

The smells of sweets and sounds of laughter filled the air at Chelsea Piers two Saturdays ago as the UJA-Federation of New York celebrated its annual Family Fun Day, with RAND on hand to sponsor and volunteer—as well as partake in the festivities, of course.
Overflowing with activities ranging from cookie decorating to bouncing castles, Pier 60 was transformed into a magical place where hundreds of children, eyes wide and mouths open, ran from booth to booth, followed closely by smiling (and often panting) parents trying to keep up with them.

My RAND colleagues Michael Langwell, Jason Boral, and I were only too happy to volunteer our services for the day. Sporting vibrant teal T-shirts (not the most flattering color for us, but we took one for team), we helped run the carnival station’s four booths. Shuffling between the Ring Toss, the Milk Can Softball Toss, Tip the Clown, and the Duck Pond, we guided the kids through each game and awarded dozens of prizes to the delight of the day’s many winners. The carnival station was one of the event’s most popular spots, if we do say so ourselves.

Also on hand for RAND were Yessica Marinez and her daughter Isabella, and Sarah Tsiropinas and her daughter Maya. Given the look on their faces throughout the day, they had a fantastic time, mommies and daughters alike.
RAND is proud to support the UJA-Federation of New York as part of our RAND Gives Back program, and we look forward to more fun with the organization in the future.
