RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC is proud to announce its recognition as one of Crain's Best Places to Work in NYC for the 13th time. This award reflects RAND’s dedication to creating a dynamic, supportive, and employee-focused workplace that fosters growth, creativity, and well-being. The Best Places to Work list was unveiled during an award ceremony held at the New York Marriott Marquis on September 18.
RAND’s continued success is fueled by its commitment to actively listening to employees. "We take employee feedback seriously," said Director of Operations Joanna Kuther. "Our focus on work-life balance has driven initiatives like flexible remote work policies and revamped onboarding and training programs. Every benefit is designed to meet the real needs of our team, cultivating a productive and supportive environment.”
The company offers a wide range of unique perks, from licensure support for engineers and architects to company-sponsored sports teams, monthly craft lunches, and even movie nights. Employees can unwind in a rec room complete with a pool table or participate in fitness challenges that promote wellness. Additionally, RAND provides a 401(k) plan with a company match, profit-sharing bonuses, and the chance to purchase stock through its Equity Stock Purchase Program—encouraging both long-term financial security and investment in the company’s growth.
At the heart of RAND’s mission is a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company’s wide-reaching recruitment efforts and inclusive culture ensure that every employee feels valued and empowered. With flexible schedules for caretakers, employee resource groups, and community outreach initiatives, RAND embraces the diverse backgrounds of its staff and fosters a workplace where everyone can thrive.
“Being named one of Crain’s Best Places to Work in NYC highlights our commitment to creating a workplace where our team feels valued, supported, and inspired,” said Stephen Varone, AIA, President of RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC. “As we continue to grow and evolve, our focus remains on nurturing an inclusive, innovative environment that not only supports our employees’ well-being while delivering excellence for our clients.”
How the Rankings Are Determined
The Crain’s Best Places to Work in NYC awards recognize companies that excel in fostering great workplace environments. In partnership with Workforce Research Group, Crain’s conducted surveys with thousands of employees and their employers to assess working conditions, benefits, and corporate culture.
To qualify, companies must have at least 25 permanent employees, operate in New York City, and have been in business for at least one year. Both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations were eligible.
The ranking process involved two key steps: evaluating each company’s policies, practices, and demographics, which accounted for 20% of the score, and conducting employee surveys, which made up the remaining 80%. Workforce Research Group handled the survey process and data analysis to determine the final rankings.
