Architect

RAND is seeking an experienced Architect to manage large, multifaceted projects, (exterior/interior, MEP, structural), for residential and commercial buildings.

Essential Job Functions, Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review plans
  • Prepare written reports and studies
  • Coordinate tasks and schedules among teams
  • Interact with clients
  • Develop design and technical solutions through all phases of a project, from feasibility to construction documentation
  • Prepare renderings and supporting graphics for project presentation

Job Requirements:

  • New York State Registered Architect preferred
  • 5 years experience in residential and commercial projects, particularly multi-family buildings
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe and Office Suite. Revit is a plus
  • Ability to produce and manage a project from programming through design and construction administration in a team environment
  • Experience in the preparation of architectural construction drawings and related project documents
  • Experience with construction administration of projects, including shop drawings review, site visits and reports
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Project Manager - Facade & Roofing

RAND is seeking a Project Manager for our Facade & Roofing Team. 

Essential Job Functions, Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identify new work opportunities and inform Client Services of potential projects with new or current clients
  • Provide overall administrative and technical management support on new facade/roofing opportunities from RAND proposal preparation through final acceptance by client
  • Establish project objectives, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy; provide coordination of project designs with other disciplines
  • Examine building exterior envelopes, develop work scopes and provide budget projections. 
  • Prepare construction documents and details to address all deficiencies in accordance with DOB and LPC requirements/guidelines
  • Conduct contractor bid solicitations/reviews
  • Perform construction observation and special inspections, issue site visit reports, and establish on-going dialogue with LPC, if applicable
  • Create and maintain project schedules, issue change orders, review payment applications and oversee completion of project close-out
  • Actively monitor project budgets to ensure profitability, and develop/maintain client relationships

Job Requirements:

  • 4-Year Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in designing and administering exterior repair/roofing projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated mastery in: estimating, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, construction observation, client relationship, interpersonal skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication, organization and leadership skills, as well as ability to train others and monitor their work for quality and completeness
  • Applicants must be well versed in all facets of building exterior envelope, weatherproofing, masonry repair, historic preservation, landmarks and roofing projects, as well as FISP inspections and reports

Senior Mechanical Engineer

RAND is seeking a senior mechanical engineer with experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.

Essential Job Functions, Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review plans
  • Prepare written reports and studies
  • Interact with clients
  • Administer MEP upgrade projects
  • Prepare renderings and supporting graphics for project presentations
  • Develop design and technical solutions through all phases of a project, from feasibility to construction documentation
  • Conduct site visits during the construction phase
  • Design and specify HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems
  • Provide timely analytical solutions to evaluate mechanical configurations from a structural viewpoint
  • Conduct verification/benchmarking of analytical results to test data/instrumentation
  • Determine HVAC load, specs, sizing equipment, ductwork, and piping

Job Requirements:

  • New York State PE license required
  • 5 years’ experience in residential and commercial projects, particularly multi-family buildings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to produce and manage a project from programming through design and construction administration, in a team environment

Mechanical Engineer

RAND is seeking a junior to mid-level mechanical engineer for our MEP Team.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge/experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems for buildings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with team members, clients, and vendors
  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines. Strong organizational skills
  • Positive attitude with proven proficiency working collaboratively within a team setting
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work efficiently and with accuracy, takes responsibility for own work
  • Self-motivated individuals capable of assuming increasing responsibility for both current and future projects, and who are interested in growing with the firm
  • Pursuing professional certifications or licensure a plus
