RAND Names Peter Scallion, Joanna Kuther, and Jason Damiano Associate Principals

NEW YORK, NY — As RAND approaches 40 years in practice, the firm is pleased to announce the promotion of Peter Scallion, Joanna Kuther, and Jason Damiano, PE to Associate Principal.

These appointments recognize their strong contributions to the firm, including significant financial investment, their long-term commitment to RAND, and the important role each has played in helping shape the company over time.

Peter Scallion has been with RAND for nearly 25 years and has helped lead the firm’s marketing and business development efforts for more than two decades. He served as Marketing Director from 2001 to 2015 and has been Business Development Director since 2015. Over that time, he has played a key role in growing RAND’s commercial and hospitality practice while also helping strengthen the firm’s visibility, client relationships, and business development efforts. He also recently served as President of Metro New York Toastmasters, reflecting his longstanding commitment to communication and leadership development.

Joanna Kuther has been with RAND for 23 years and has served the firm in a range of leadership roles. As Human Resources Director and Operations Director, she worked hard to foster a strong sense of community at RAND and led recruiting efforts that helped support the firm’s growth. She also grew and led the firm’s RAND Gives Back initiative of community volunteer work and charitable giving, expanding the program as a meaningful part of the company’s culture. Joanna currently serves as Sales & Marketing Director and Chief Administrative Officer, where she brings a deep knowledge of the firm, a strong operational perspective, and a people-focused approach to supporting RAND’s ongoing growth and day-to-day leadership.

Jason Damiano, PE, joined RAND in 2011 and serves as Senior Structural Engineer and Structural Team Leader. He leads evaluation, design, and construction administration for structural rehabilitation projects across residential, commercial, and institutional properties. His work includes repair and replacement programs for facades, roofs and bulkheads, sidewalks and vaults, foundations, retaining walls, and parking garages. Jason is a New York State licensed Professional Engineer, a Qualified Parking Structure Inspector, and an ICC-certified Special Inspector in multiple disciplines.

“One of the strengths of RAND has always been the people who grow with the firm and help move it forward,” said Stephen Varone, AIA, President of RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC. “Peter, Joanna, and Jason have each done that in their own way through significant contributions to the firm, hard work, and a real commitment to RAND and the people here. I’m very happy to recognize them as Associate Principals.”

Their appointment reflects the leadership and long-term investment that continue to shape RAND’s future as a 100% employee-owned and operated firm.
