Drone Services

Facade Inspection by Drone Drones can capture clear, detailed, high-resolution video and photographs from any vantage point, for close-up inspections and accurate analysis of building systems and structural conditions.

DRONES TAKE FLIGHT

Drones can provide a safe, fast, cost-effective, and less intrusive way to perform close-up visual evaluations of buildings than traditional inspection methods, such as motorized scaffolding, pipe scaffolding, and boom lifts. Drones are also useful where it may be cost-prohibitive, unsafe, or impractical to use other methods for building inspections because of the shape and location of the structure and/or its condition.

FACADE INSPECTIONS AND MORE

RAND’s team of licensed drone technicians conducts visual aerial surveys on a variety of projects:

  • Facade inspections
  • Roof inspections
  • Leakage investigations
  • Property condition assessments
  • Emergency investigations
  • Curtain wall analysis
  • Facade repair quantifications
  • Special Inspections
  • Interior space evaluations
  • Pre-incident assessments
  • Post-incident forensic investigations
  • Post-disaster recovery and insurance claims
  • New construction and renovation progress documentation
  • Exterior air infiltration/exfiltration analysis
  • Roofing level thermography and analysis

FASTER, CHEAPER, SAFER

Quicker Mobilization, Cost Savings
Because no equipment other than a drone is required, RAND’s Drone Team can easily set up and operate efficiently and more cost-effectively than via traditional visual inspection methods, with no additional contractor fees involved. Drones can also much more quickly cover very tall buildings and large site areas.

High-Quality Documentation
Drones can capture clear, detailed, high-resolution video and photographs from any vantage point, for close-up inspections and accurate analysis of building systems and structural conditions.

Safety
RAND’s Drone Team operates from the ground, allowing safe, reliable access to hard-to-reach locations and sites with hazardous conditions.

DRONE COVERAGE AREAS

RAND’s drone services are available for the New York metropolitan area, including Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Long Island, Westchester County, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

DRONE USE IN MANHATTAN

Drone operation is currently allowed in New York City as of July 2023.

While drones can greatly enhance visual inspections, they are not a substitute for hands-on inspections, particularly those mandated by New York City’s Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP), which requires cyclical hands-on inspections of buildings taller than six stories along every 60 feet of street- and public-facing facades.
